It Feels Like Fall Today

It feels like fall today. The sun has that warm glow. The wind, breezy, moving romantically. Every year, without fail, fall touches my soul. I experience suppressed emotions, thoughts, and sensations I repressed through the year. More reminiscent than ever; I yearn for the early days of childhood. When things were simple—life consisted of play, friends and school.

Newly 24, I find adulthood extremely difficult. Already considered wise for my years, I have been out of college merely 18 months and I have aged eighteen years. Bills, career, work, marriage, friendship, family all uncompromisingly trip through my mind.

Hustler by nature, warrior by birth. When will the struggle stop? When will it pay off? These games, my hardwork. My soul aches, unrewarded; filled with angst. It feels like winter today.

Dear Miss Mischa Barton,

Time for a reality check my friend. When are you going to realize that you are not a skinny little 16-year-old anymore. You are getting older, flabby, and soft. Get your ass to the gym, right now. Whoever keeps telling you that you look great is lying.

I was listening to the news while at work today and President Bush was speaking about our economy.  He said that our economy will indeed improve shortly and unfortunately the first thought that came to mind was “Of course it is, you’re going to be out of office soon!”

I understand that there were mistakes made by the Clinton administration regarding terrorism and our country’s security, however, Clinton did reform our economy and left it in great shape for the Bush administration.  How it possible that Bush managed to F* it up so bad so quickly!?! It’s sad really.

Currently, I am torn as to who I would like to see in the Oval Office.  Though raised in Boston by liberal parents, I honestly felt that Mitt Romney would have been best in office and have done wonders for our economy and foreign policy.

Obama is simply too young and idealistic.  I am disappointed in the support and endorsements he is receiving from celebrities–he is riding the media wave a little too well.  Obama is a great public speaker, I give him that, but our country is not ready for such a President.  He is not JFK!

As for Hillary, she is brilliant-but I do not think she will make the correct decisions regarding our foreign, policy and the war in Iraq.

And then there is McCain.  Though he is a bit on the older side, I think his military experience and life experience as a politician will be the most beneficial to this country.

No matter how educated, experienced, or just plain full-of-it you are, remember NOBODY LIKES A KNOW-IT-ALL and guess what, YOU DON’T KNOW IT ALL!

move forward with your life. failures are learning experiences, success is a learning experience–all of life is a learning experience. find the strength to move forward-it’s there, I promise.  The worst thing you can do in life is nothing.

In this country we fight for our freedom and for the freedom of choice, but more importantly we fight for love.

The fight for love: the journey we take to find the strength within to love ourselves and those positive in our life. We fight to find our soul mate and find the One above. Everything else in this life is “merely external” (Matisyahu, Warrior).

The responsibilities forced upon in this society are the price of freedom in the U.S. But at what cost?

We work to live, but we should not live to work and that is what we do.

More value is put on money than true happiness, because our ideologies are materialistic–we mistake money for happiness. It is not. Having money makes this life easier, but is not the decider of happiness, we are. This is the struggle.

We struggle with this concept day in, day out and what are the results? Stress, anxiety, anger, and frustration all contributing to the negative vices of life-drinking, smoking, drugs.

These vices, these negative actions are socially accepted as pleasures. Vices are society’s way of accepting the need for escape, escape from all pressures listed above.

Love your loved ones. Reunite your soul. Find your salvation. Life is too beautiful to escape.

Truck™” in the back of
a New York City taxi cab. And
I’ve since shared it with millions
of people all over the world in my
newspaper columns, television
programs, and workshops. Here
is an excerpt from The Law of the
Garbage Truck™:
“Many people are like garbage
trucks. They run around full of
garbage, full of frustration, full
of anger, and full of disappointment.
As their garbage piles up,
they do what garbage trucks do:
They look for a place to dump it.
And if you let them, they’ll dump
it on you.
So when someone wants to
dump on you, don’t take it personally.
Just smile, wave, wish
them well, and move on. Believe
me. You’ll be happier.”
Most Garbage Trucks come in
and out of your life. They live in
another community. They work
somewhere else. You may never
see them again. And if you do,
you might not even recognize
them. So, follow The Law of the
Garbage Truck™, and you will
be happier and more successful.
But, some of you feel that you
live with Garbage Trucks. You
say that “just smiling, waving,
and wishing them well” literally
means watching someone
leave your kitchen and go into
the living room. You feel there
is no escape. The person you
believe is a Garbage Truck in
your life could be your mother,
father, spouse, partner, roommate,
sibling, cousin, in-law,
boss, customer, or colleague.
You feel trapped.
This is when you must learn
The Law of the Garbage Truck™
Driver.
Inside every Garbage Truck is
a Driver.
And every Driver is protected in
their Garbage Truck.
But no Driver stays forever in
their Garbage Truck.
They will one day leave the
safety of their Garbage Truck,
If even for a moment.
It is then that we will appeal to
what is best in them.
It is then that we will let the
Driver know how much we care,
And how much they mean to
us.
Because there is hope and possibility
in the world,
When we reach the Garbage
Truck Driver.
See, no one is a Garbage Truck
every moment of their lives. And
there is no one, anywhere, who
is not a Garbage Truck at some
point in time. The problem is
that some people are Garbage
Trucks so much of their lives
that it’s hard for us to see them
being anything else. So, we
have to catch those moments,
rare as they may be, when the
Drivers step out of their Garbage
Trucks; only then can we speak
to them.
Our mission then is to connect
with the Drivers when they are at
their best. It is then that we can
approach them, tell them how
much they mean to us, and show
them how much we love them.
And it is then that they will see
that our intentions are good, and
that they will hear what we have
to say. It is only then that we can
talk about our relationships and
how they could be even better.
We will have the chance to show
them that life is better lived outside
of their Garbage Trucks.
We know we cannot reach the
Driver in every Garbage Truck;
some Garbage Trucks come in
and out of our lives too quickly.
We just have to believe that
someone, somewhere, someday
will reach the Drivers we cannot.
But for the Garbage Trucks in
our families and companies, we
must follow The Law of the Garbage
Truck™ Driver. We make
the world a more beautiful place
by helping the most important
people in our lives step out of
their Garbage Trucks.

I found this quotation online and it touched me deeply–as I have transitioned from idealistic academic University student to Full-fledged working adult. In this world, it is much too easy to be overly self-critical and doubt your capabilities. The only person that can hold you back is yourself. You control your destiny.

The only person that has your best interest is you. Your peers and family, if you are lucky, are a part of your support system-part of the support web we weave in life, feeding you the positive energy needed to succeed in this life.

Take a moment, reflect on your life. Break your life into segments on paper- categorizing life cycles and transitions. When were you at your best or worst and why?

Have you discovered that the common thread woven through your most positive life moments are times when you had little or no negative persons in your life. You felt the natural high of self-satisfaction.

The oneness filling you from within gives you the energy and strength to produce remarkable and beautiful things.

Harness this inner essence from within, take action and forgive those who have hurt you and move on. Face your problems. To ignore them only darkens your soul.

this world is ruled by men and their jagged swords.

hurt, hurt, hurt, over over over.

wounds i lick clean never heal-feeble scars take their place.

need to forget. but the strength is not there to move forward.

exposed to a world too soon. one i didn’t know existed.

my mind forever damaged-the wounds are open-thrashed by the trash of the world.

want to escape, disappear, hide behind my wall of isolation protected by hate and resentment.

beauty doesn’t live here no more. the poison killed it.
