Life is a Cycle of Transformations

Now that I have reached the quarter-life crisis, I can objectivly reflect and examine my life thus far. Flipping through my photo albums, year books, facebook pics, myspace albums, whatever–I see the numerous stages I have passed through. Each transformation I passed through was positive, until I reached college, where I lost respect for myself and my body. I began to pollute it with beer and cigarettes (smoking, a pleasure I have yet to eliminate) and no longer worked out consistently nor participated in sports, especially soccer, as I had my entire life. Consequently, I gained the freshman 12, but eventually that 12 turned into 17 lbs. overall in my college career, and it was not pretty!

I take responsibility for my reckless actions, but realize there was one major contributing factor to my self destruction: my friends.

I made several ‘close’ girlfriends, a few I still keep in touch with. For the most part, they were the opposite from me. But I liked them. I liked them because they were all a little bit naughty and rebellious, but they were mostly fatties! They were all cute, but their eating habits were atrocious and it ravaged my body.

Your body is your temple, and my temple has always eaten ridiculously healthy, so when I began to pollute it with junk food and high fat meals, I think I started a gastric war.

My lesson learned is, don’t compromise your health and best interests because of the negative influence of others.

I have lost the 17 lbs. plus 6 more. I am in the best shape I’ve been since high school, in fact better. Exercise and a healthy diet is the best thing you could ever do for yourself. Though it can be difficult at first, once you begin to see the results, looking and feeling better becomes the best motivation.

Transform yourself for the better, you’ll be rewarded tenfold.
